how could you do this to me
dear god i did not expect to love this game as much as I have. I didn't even have strong feelings for it for the first 2/3rds of my first plathrough, with much of the story's slow reveal got (wrongfully) ignored for my desire to keep leaping into its incredibly satifying combat, haha. I snagged it through Game Pass and spent a lot of time admiring the pretty scenery and snappy, satisfying fights, but that was all until I had reached the Puppet King
thank god my rental ran out of time! I bought it on Steam during a sale and got glued to my PC rebuilding my progress (something I thought would take weeks, but I got so engrossed it only took two days to reach the final level of the game), and really decided to savor every second I had on screen. The game asks that of you when logging the vinyl records (i loved that collectible idea, how cute) and completing side quests and getting other collectibles, and I was really grateful to take a closer look into it. Plus, it's just stupidly satisfying to play. It's a perfect example of the endurance test of souls-likes and parrying makes you feel like you're tearing down these titans yourself. Great stuff.I love the dense, tragic story it tells, the cast and their performance give so much to the experience. And! God! I just really the look of it, it's a lovingly crafted game and immaculately put together. I really came to love the protagonist and his journey, enough to write a little fan work (that I might expand upon having finished the game now, and since I'm going to play the DLC soon)! There's a number of tracks I keep coming back to, and it's a game I love booting up just to spend time in. Playing New Game Plus now and I'm sure I'll be back over a few times for this one. Really a great work.
